About Face 3D

Face 3D is a 3D portrait and photo animation plugin for After Effects and Blender, created by Nataworkstudio. It uses AI to turn a single photo into a fully animated 3D model. The developer describes the workflow as easy and fast.

Depth maps can be generated in several ways: through the Depth Scanner 2 and Quick Depth 3 plugins, via online pages for Marigold, Distill‑any‑depth and Depth‑anything‑v2‑small, or by importing a depth map from a local folder. Version 1.3.0 fixed the depth‑map browser and added a folder structure and minor UI tweaks.

Generated OBJ files have a smooth mesh and a reduced file size, and the resulting scene can be relit. A UI colour theme is available and the plugin includes integration for Blender.
