Pixel Stretch is a free plugin for After Effects and Premiere Pro that adds organic nonlinear pixel stretching with subpixel accuracy, driven by a luminance curve or a separate intensity layer, and supports multiple channel modes and direction controls.
Developed by Satori.

About Pixel Stretch
Pixel Stretch applies organic nonlinear pixel stretching with subpixel accuracy inside After Effects and Premiere Pro. The stretch can be driven by a luminance curve or a separate input layer used as a stretch mask, and operates in orthogonal directions via a Direction control. Users can select channel filtering modes such as Luma, RGBA, individual Red, Green, Blue, Alpha, and variants that preserve the alpha channel. Pixel Size and Pixel Stretch parameters define base and maximum pixel size, while Curve Phase, Stretch Start Offset, and Stretch profiles (Constant, Linear Ramp Up, Linear Ramp Down) shape the effect across the image. An Image Shift Phase offsets the image along the stretch direction, and Shading overlays provide adjustable patterns with controls for interval size, phase, channel, and opacity. Version 1.6.0 added seven channel options and a Pixel Stretch Intensity parameter. The plugin is compatible with After Effects and Premiere Pro versions from CS6 through 2026.
Features
- Direction control plus an Intensity Source that uses a separate layer as a stretch mask
- Channel filtering modes: Luma, RGBA, individual Red, Green, Blue or Alpha, and Luma (no Alpha) and RGB (no Alpha) variants
- Pixel Size and Pixel Stretch parameters that set the base and maximum pixel size
- Stretch profiles: Constant, Linear Ramp Up and Linear Ramp Down, with Curve Phase and Stretch Start Offset
- Shading overlays with controls for interval size, phase, channel selection and opacity
- Transparency Edge Mode with Transparency Feather for smoothing edges where the image ends
Best for
Creating stylized pixel‑stretch transitions and visual effects in After Effects and Premiere Pro.
Frequently asked questions
Does Pixel Stretch work with After Effects 2026 and older versions?
Yes. Pixel Stretch supports After Effects versions from CS6 through 2026, including 2025, 2024, 2023, 2022, 2021, 2020, CC 2019, CC 2018, CC 2017, CC 2015.3, CC 2015, CC 2014, and CC.
Does Pixel Stretch run in Premiere Pro?
Yes. Pixel Stretch runs in Premiere Pro and supports the same range of versions as in After Effects, from CS6 through 2026, offering identical stretching controls and intensity‑source options.
Is Pixel Stretch free to use?
The catalog lists Pixel Stretch as free. Licensing terms and download details are provided on the developer’s page.
How can Pixel Stretch be used for transitions?
For transitions, adjust Stretch Start Offset to the desired row or column, increase Pixel Stretch and Pixel Size to maximum values, set Edge Mode to Transparent, and optionally enable Transparency Feather. Combine these settings with Shading opacity or layer opacity to fade the stretch across the frame.
