About BlenderAE

BlenderAe is an extension from Salt Media that connects Blender with After Effects, moving objects and data from Blender into After Effects. It supports vertices, 3D layer transforms, cameras, lights, and physics‑simulation data such as cloth, ocean, and rigid bodies. Layer synchronization lets objects, verts, faces, lights and cameras sync without creating new layers in After Effects. A built‑in glTF (glb) quick exporter sends 3D objects to After Effects 23.0 and newer, and an auto‑connect option establishes the link. Users can choose Orientation or X‑Y‑Z rotation modes, and Blender camera shift X‑Y is supported. The tool installs as an extension in Blender 4.2+ or as an add‑on for Blender 3.6 LTS through 4.2. Compatibility spans After Effects 2020‑2026 and Blender 3.0‑5.0 on Windows 10/11 and macOS 10.15‑15.

Features

  • Exports objects and data from Blender to After Effects
  • glb (glTF) quick exporter for sending 3D objects to After Effects 23.0 and above

  • Vertex support for physics simulations including cloth, ocean, and soft and rigid bodies
  • Choice of Orientation or x,y,z rotation, plus vertex normal rotations
  • Auto-connect to After Effects and Blender camera shift x,y support
  • Installs as an extension in Blender 4.2 and above, or an addon in Blender 3.6 LTS to 4.2

Best for

Artists and motion‑designers who need to transfer objects, cameras, lights and simulation data between Blender and After Effects.

Frequently asked questions

What software versions does BlenderAe support?

BlenderAe supports After Effects versions from 2020 through 2026 and Blender versions from 3.0 through 5.0. It installs as an extension in Blender 4.2+ or as an add‑on for Blender 3.6 LTS through 4.2, and runs on Windows 10/11 and macOS 10.15‑15.

Does BlenderAe need any setup on MacOS?

On macOS, users must add and enable After Effects under Privacy & Security → Full Disk Access. No additional setup is required for Windows 10 or 11.

How does BlenderAe move data into After Effects?

The plugin exports objects, vertices, 3‑D layer transforms, cameras and lights from Blender to After Effects. Layer synchronization keeps these elements in sync without creating new layers, and a glTF (glb) exporter transfers the geometry, with options for orientation or X‑Y‑Z rotation.

Is BlenderAe free?

The catalog lists BlenderAe as free; no price is specified.
