About Grid Builder

Grid Builder is a grid engine for Adobe After Effects that centralises layout creation, management, and animation to a single Null object. It supports four grid modes—rectangular, radial, path, and spherical—allowing designers to build a variety of arrangements. Proximity effects can be customised with multiple effectors and groups, and grids can be swapped while these effects are active. The Morph mode enables smooth transitions between different grid layouts, and each element in a grid receives individual Twist and Stagger controls that persist across mode changes, including keyframes. The plugin is compatible with After Effects versions 2022 through 2026, and the current release is version 2.0.1 (June 2026).
