About RE:Vision Effects RE:Grade

RE:Grade adds a suite of color correction tools to After Effects and Premiere Pro, including saturation and exposure adjustment, automatic contrast enhancement for mixed lighting, and multi‑resolution processing that combines global and local contrast with per‑pixel sharpening without halos or ringing. It supports Hald CLUTs, can save and invert 3D LUTs, and provides exposure‑fusion tone mapping for HDR‑like results. Additional features include a mini‑color corrector with CDL controls, HLS color and tone limiters, and color‑fringe attenuation. The plugin works with After Effects and Premiere Pro versions from CS6 through the 2022‑24 releases and follows the host application’s OS and hardware requirements.

Features

  • Automatic Contrast Enhancement (ACE) for difficult mixed-lighting or very uneven illumination situations, such as shooting against a window
  • Multi-resolution processing combining global contrast, local contrast, and per-pixel sharpness in a single tool without halos, ringing, or clamping
  • Hald Clut support with save-as-3D-LUT, for building libraries of color looks and normalizing footage
  • Color Admin 3D LUT inversion using Hald Clut in and out, to restore consistency across a multi-application workflow
  • Exposure Fusion tone mapping controls for HDR-like effects, plus blind handling of log curves with head, middle-point, and tail adjustment
  • Mini-color corrector with color balance adjustment, HALD Clut support, and CDL controls, alongside HLS color and tone limiters
  • Color fringe attenuation to reduce purple fringes and other optical or sensor over-saturation anomalies

Best for

Colorists and video editors using After Effects or Premiere Pro who need to repair, normalize, and enhance low‑light, washed‑out, or log‑type footage.

Frequently asked questions

Which After Effects and Premiere Pro versions does RE:Grade support?

RE:Grade supports After Effects and Premiere Pro from CS6, CC, CC 2014, CC 2015, CC 2017, CC 2018, CC 2019, 2020, 2021, and the 2022‑24 releases. The plugin requires the same OS and hardware specifications as the host application.

Does RE:Grade handle 3D LUT inversion for multi-app workflows?

Yes. RE:Grade includes a Color Admin feature that can invert 3D LUTs using Hald CLUT input and output, allowing you to normalize color across multiple applications and save LUTs for library use.

Can RE:Grade work with flat log footage of unknown origin?

RE:Grade can process flat log footage of unknown origin using its blind log‑curve handling. Users adjust head, mid‑point, and tail controls while protecting highlights, and the ACE tool improves contrast in uneven lighting situations.

Is RE:Grade free, and how is licensing handled?

The catalog lists RE:Grade as free, but the plugin uses REVisionActivate for licensing and may require activation or inclusion in the RE:Vision Effects Effections Bundle, which could involve a purchase.
