Extendo is an edge extension plugin for After Effects and DaVinci Resolve that expands footage borders, matches film grain to the original, and offers a Knockout Mode for isolating the extended area. It supports GPU acceleration via Mercury GPU and runs on After Effects 2024‑2026.
Developed by Eric @ VFX Tools.

About Extendo
Extendo provides edge extension for footage within After Effects (versions 2024, 2025, 2026) and, via OFX support, in DaVinci Resolve. The plugin adds a Film Grain option so the extended zone can inherit the original grain, and a Knockout Mode that outputs only the newly created edge area. Users can control erosion, apply masks, and keep the original alpha channel. GPU acceleration is available through Mercury GPU, while a software fallback runs faster at high erosion values. Version 1.3.1 includes a CPU rendering fix and the Film Grain matching feature. Extendo is classified under VFX Tools and a demo video is provided by the developer.

Frequently asked questions
Does Extendo work with After Effects 2024?
Yes. Extendo lists compatibility with After Effects 2024, 2025, and 2026, so the 2024 release is supported.
Does Extendo work in DaVinci Resolve?
Yes. OFX support was added in version 1.2.1, allowing Extendo to run in DaVinci Resolve with the same edge‑extension and grain‑matching features.
Does Extendo need Mercury GPU enabled in After Effects?
GPU acceleration is optional. Extendo can use Mercury GPU for faster processing, but it also operates in software mode, which is faster at high erosion values.
Is Extendo free to download?
The catalog marks Extendo as free, indicating no price is shown. Licensing details should be confirmed on the developer’s page.
