About MB Liquid Glass
MB Liquid Glass adds a GPU‑accelerated, liquid‑glass effect to After Effects. It runs on After Effects 2026, 2025 and 2024. The effect combines adjustable glass refraction, blur, highlight and shadow, and includes a built‑in rounded rectangle, a shape list, a matte layer and a self layer. Version 1.2.0 updates refraction handling, alpha channel participation, signed distance field (SDF) behavior, and self‑layer processing. Long glass shapes such as search bars, pill buttons and wide rounded rectangles receive a larger optical travel range, while self‑layer SDF continuity improves for circles, rounded rectangles, ellipses and custom paths. Transparent and semi‑transparent footage now refracts with the glass, and blur, frost and post‑blur effects process RGBA together.

Best for
After Effects artists who need a GPU‑accelerated liquid‑glass look with fine control over refraction, blur, highlight and shadow.
Frequently asked questions
Does MB Liquid Glass work with After Effects 2026?
Yes. MB Liquid Glass lists compatibility with After Effects 2026, 2025 and 2024, and the current release (1.2.0) is built to run on those versions.
Is MB Liquid Glass free to download?
The catalog marks MB Liquid Glass as free, but licensing terms may change; verify the current terms on the developer’s page before downloading.
What changed in MB Liquid Glass 1.2.0?
Version 1.2.0 reworks refraction, alpha handling, SDF behavior, and Self Layer processing, adds a larger optical travel range for long glass shapes, improves SDF continuity for various shapes, and makes the alpha channel participate in refraction and RGBA‑wide blur, frost and post‑blur processing.
Should I upgrade to MB Liquid Glass 1.2.0 mid-project?
The developer recommends applying the 1.2.0 update after a project is completed, as the changes can produce small visual differences from earlier versions. Upgrade between projects to benefit from the refraction, SDF and alpha‑channel improvements.
