About RE:Vision Effects RE:Flex

RE:Flex creates morphs and warps in After Effects, DaVinci Resolve Studio (v16+) and Fusion Studio (8.2.1+). It directs warping through the host program’s splines and polylines, allowing open or closed masks without a separate mesh interface. Users define “from” geometry in red and “to” geometry in yellow, can match vertices manually, and can animate the amount and timing of each shape’s transformation. The plugin incorporates automatic image registration using Twixtor’s tracking data to fill gaps where hand‑matched features are absent. Rendering supports anti‑aliasing subsampling, MipMap filtering, 8‑bit, 16‑bit and floating‑point formats, and GPU acceleration; version 5 improves GPU performance up to three times faster. Compatibility includes After Effects CS6 through 2022‑24 (with a minimum of version 2015.0.1 for AE CC 2015) and Fusion Studio 8.2.1 and newer.

Features

  • Warping is directed through the host program’s splines and polylines rather than a grid of mesh points, and shapes need not be closed
  • Interactive warping: view the warp as you drag the control shapes
  • Option to match vertices of corresponding geometries for fine control
  • Automatic image registration combined with hand feature-matching, using the tracking from RE:Vision Effects’ Twixtor
  • Amount and timing of warping can be specified and animated per shape, with a variable amount of shape transition between “from” and “to” geometries
  • High-quality render with anti-aliasing subsampling and MipMap filtering; 8 and 16 bits per channel, plus floating point in After Effects (Professional Edition), Shake and Fusion
  • GPU accelerated, with revamped GPU support in v5

Best for

Artists who need precise morphs and warps in After Effects, DaVinci Resolve Studio or Fusion and prefer to work with the host’s native spline and masking tools.

Frequently asked questions

Does RE:Flex work with After Effects 2024 and DaVinci Resolve?

RE:Flex supports After Effects CS6 through the 2022‑24 releases and DaVinci Resolve Studio version 16 and later, as well as Fusion Studio 8.2.1 and newer; specific host version compatibility should be verified on the developer’s page.

Is RE:Flex free?

The catalog lists RE:Flex as free, but the same plugin is also sold as part of RE:Vision Effects bundles, so actual licensing terms may require purchase or activation.

Can I use RE:Flex still-to-still morphing in Fusion Studio?

Still‑to‑still morphing is not available in Fusion Studio; the workflow is limited to moving sequences in that host.

Does RE:Flex use GPU acceleration?

RE:Flex is GPU accelerated, with the revamped support in version 5 delivering up to three‑fold speed improvements and recent fixes for GPU fallback issues on both Mac and Windows.
