About RE:Vision Effects RE:Map

RE:Map is a plugin suite for compositing applications that focuses on post‑production UV workflow. It lets artists re‑render UV maps using a previously exported UV pass, replace or clean up textures, and apply new textures to animated 3D objects without returning to the original 3D software. The tool works bidirectionally: you can generate a texture map from a photograph and matching 3D model, or project 2D textures back onto a 3D surface. Additional features include four‑point corner pinning, advanced 2D displacement mapping with supersampling and mismapping filters, and an automatic caricature effect that distorts images based on facial features. RE:Map runs on After Effects CS6 through 2026, DaVinci Resolve 15.1.1 and newer, Fusion Studio 5.2+, Natron 1+, Nuke 5.1+/Indie 12.2+, Scratch 8, Silhouette 6.1.3+, Autograph and Flame 2019.2+, all leveraging GPU acceleration.

Features

  • Texture map in post: use a UV map rendered from a 3D system to clean up or replace texture maps in your compositing program without re-rendering
  • Works in both directions, using a photo and a matching 3D object to create the texture map your 3D render system needs (inverse UV mapping)
  • Corner pinning that maps or inverse maps a perspective plane defined by four points
  • 2D displacement mapping with more options and advanced filtering controls than many displacement filters
  • Caricature effect that automatically distorts a color image based on its features
  • High-quality filtering including supersampling and mismapping to deal with antialiased UV edges and overlapping object sections
  • GPU accelerated

Best for

Compositors who need to adjust, replace, or re‑render UV texture maps in post without re‑exporting from a 3D package.
