Lattice Magic is a free Blender add-on that provides two lattice-based deformation tools—Tweak Lattice and Camera Lattice—plus utilities for shaping linked or overridden animated characters, with automatic parenting and preset fall‑off shapes.
Developed by Mets.

About Lattice Magic
Lattice Magic, developed by Mets, adds two primary lattice deformation tools to Blender. Tweak Lattice deforms mesh objects using a 3D object that can be parented, follow armature deformation, and be animated, similar to Proportional Editing. Camera Lattice deforms objects from a specific camera view, operating on vertices and offering a shapekey‑and‑keyframe workflow for camera‑based liquify effects. Version 1.0.1 introduced a default automatic parenting option that parents the lattice to the same bones as the nearest vertex’s deforming bones, and added preset fall‑off shapes (Linear, Smooth, Root, Sphere) and UI poll messages explaining unavailable operators. The add‑on fully supports linked and overridden animated characters and requires Blender 4.2 LTS or newer. It is distributed under the GNU GPL v3.0 or later.
Features
- Tweak Lattice tool that deforms a set of mesh objects similar to Proportional Editing, using an object in 3D space that can be parented, follow armature deformation, and be animated
- Camera Lattice tool that deforms a collection of objects from a particular camera perspective, operating on vertices instead of pixels
- Workflow for managing a set of shapekeys and their keyframes when working with camera-based liquification in animation
- Automatic parenting option that parents the lattice to the same bones as the deforming bones of the nearest vertex to the cursor
- Preset fall-off shapes including Linear, Smooth, Root and Sphere
- Full support for linked and overridden animated characters
- Poll messages that tell you in the UI why an operator isn’t available
Best for
Character animation tweaks in production pipelines, especially when working with linked or overridden animated characters.
Frequently asked questions
Does Lattice Magic work with Blender 4.2?
Yes. Lattice Magic is compatible with Blender 4.2 LTS and any newer version.
Is Lattice Magic free to use?
Yes. The add‑on is listed as free and is released under the GNU GPL v3.0 or later.
Does Lattice Magic work with linked and overridden characters?
Yes. Both Tweak Lattice and Camera Lattice are designed to work with linked and overridden animated characters.
How does automatic parenting work in Lattice Magic?
Automatic parenting, enabled by default in version 1.0.1, assigns the lattice to the same bones that deform the nearest vertex to the cursor, allowing the lattice to follow those bones without manual selection.
