About AfterCodecs

AfterCodecs provides native export modules for After Effects, Premiere Pro and Adobe Media Encoder, supporting ProRes, H264, H265 and the four Vidvox HAP codecs. The plug‑ins run on Windows 10/11 and macOS 12–26, including Apple Silicon and Intel CPUs, and do not need QuickTime. MultiRender enables batch exporting of large numbers of videos, and each host application gains extra controls such as separate audio track export, sub‑resolution shortcuts and custom frame‑rate settings. Advanced options include file‑size targeting, 10‑bit color, full‑range, YUV 4:2:2 and 4:4:4, and tuning profiles. A one‑parameter YouTube Upload preset follows YouTube’s recommended settings. All features are delivered through three separate integrations for the respective Adobe apps.

Features

  • Native exporters for ProRes, H264, H265 and HAP codecs across After Effects, Premiere Pro and Adobe Media Encoder, with no QuickTime required
  • All four HAP codecs from Vidvox with faster algorithms and no resolution restrictions
  • MultiRender for batch export of thousands of videos
  • Premiere Pro and Media Encoder extras: MultiRenders Markers, exporting all audio tracks separately, quick sub-resolution buttons and custom framerate
  • One-parameter YouTube Upload profile that respects YouTube’s upload recommendations
  • Advanced options including FileSize targeting, 10 bpc, Full Range, YUV 4:2:2 and 4:4:4, and Tuning profiles
  • Export directly from the After Effects render queue without the command line or Adobe Media Encoder

Best for

Editors and motion designers who need high‑quality ProRes, H264, H265 or HAP output directly from Adobe apps and want efficient batch‑rendering.

Frequently asked questions

Which Adobe versions does AfterCodecs support?

AfterCodecs supports After Effects, Premiere Pro and Media Encoder versions from CC 2017 through the 2026 releases.

Does AfterCodecs work on macOS Apple Silicon?

The plug‑in runs on macOS 12 (Monterey) through macOS 26 (Tahoe) and supports both Apple Silicon (M1 and later) and Intel Macs, as well as Windows 10 and 11.

How many computers can one AfterCodecs license cover?

One license may be activated on up to two computers for the same user, provided the installations are not used simultaneously.

Why do H264 exports fail on odd resolutions in AfterCodecs?

H264 and H265 exports require even‑numbered width and height; odd dimensions will cause the export to fail unless YUV 4:4:4 is selected for H264, which removes the restriction.

What’s the difference between x265 and x264 in AfterCodecs?

x264 provides faster encoding with larger file sizes, while x265 yields roughly 25 % smaller files at the same quality but encodes more slowly.
