About VDM Brush Baker
VDM Brush Baker is a lightweight Blender add‑on for generating vector displacement map (VDM) brushes. The tool appears in the 3D Viewport sidebar under the Tool tab, where the Create Sculpting Plane button establishes a plane ready for sculpting. Pressing Render and Create VDM Brush bakes the plane’s displacement into a new brush, adds it as a Draw brush in sculpt mode, and saves the VDM as an OpenEXR file beside the .blend file (or in a temporary folder if the file has not been saved). The add‑on includes a Displacement Eraser brush to restore vertex positions and benefits from Auto‑Masking Mesh Boundary for cleaner edges. Typical VDM resolutions of 512 px or lower are sufficient. It is compatible with Blender 4.2 LTS and newer, including fixes for Blender 4.4 and later.
