About MonkeySauce

MonkeySauce is a script for Adobe After Effects that automates the process of triggering sound effects. It provides three main placement modes: Single, which puts each audio file in its own pre‑composition; Sequence, which combines selected files into a single pre‑comp played in order or randomly; and Expanded, which behaves like Sequence but keeps each file in its own pre‑comp to avoid interruptions. The Squeeze option speeds up audio to fit before the next marker. Marker tools include Manual placement, Repeat & Random intervals, Layer Start/Middle/End triggers, Marker Sync (aligns markers to a reference layer) and Random Sync (applies to roughly half of the reference markers). Additional utilities such as Offset, Clean, and Keyframes‑to‑Markers help refine marker placement. Mix Order can randomize the order of selected audio files or follow the project window order.

Frequently asked questions

Which After Effects versions does MonkeySauce support?

MonkeySauce supports Adobe After Effects versions 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, and 2026. Compatibility with newer or older releases should be verified on the developer’s page.

How does the Squeeze option in MonkeySauce work?

The Squeeze option speeds up an audio clip so that it finishes before the next marker is triggered, allowing tighter timing without manual trimming.

What is the difference between Marker Sync and Random Sync in MonkeySauce?

Marker Sync aligns new markers to existing markers on a selected reference layer, while Random Sync performs the same alignment but only on approximately half of the reference layer’s markers, chosen at random.
