Middle Measure is a free After Effects plugin that lets you measure distances and locate midpoints using nulls, objects, layers or edges in both 2D and 3D compositions, and can generate dynamic expressions for auto‑centering and line creation.
Developed by Gary Reisman.
About Middle Measure
Middle Measure adds on‑screen measuring tools directly to After Effects. It calculates midpoints for nulls, objects, layers and layer edges, working in both 2D and 3D environments. The plugin can also produce dynamic expressions that automatically center layers and draw lines between them, keeping relationships updated as the composition changes. Version 1.1 refines the user interface, adds help tips, and provides universal language support. Compatibility spans After Effects 2020 through 2025.
Features
- Measure and find the middle in the comp using nulls, objects, layers and layer edges
- Works in both 2D and 3D
- Create dynamic expressions to auto center layers
- Generate lines between layers
- Help tips built into the interface
- Universal Language support
Best for
After Effects users who need precise distance measurement and midpoint location across layers, nulls or objects, especially in 3D projects, and who want expression‑driven automation.
