About Place Helper
Place Helper is a Blender add‑on that consolidates several object placement and transform utilities. Transform Pro allows left‑drag movement, duplication with Shift or Alt‑drag, and mesh extrusion in Edit Mode using Shift‑drag. The Place Tool drags objects onto surfaces, aligns them to surface normals, detects collisions, and lets Alt‑click set placement axes. The Scatter Tool provides brush‑based scattering with density, radius and scale controls, supporting pressure sensitivity, random ranges, slope and height filters, an image‑based density mask, and a Limit‑to‑Surface option. Dynamic Place adds gravity simulation and force‑field effects when dragging or scaling objects. A multilingual Tool Help overlay can be toggled, and pressing Esc exits any tool to Blender’s Box Select. Version 2.0.0 adds the Scatter Tool, improves stability, and fixes startup warnings. The add‑on is released under the GNU GPL v3.0 or later.
Features
- Place Tool drags objects onto surfaces with normal alignment and collision detection, with Shift+drag to duplicate and Alt+click to set the placement axis
- Transform Pro left-drag moves objects directly in the viewport, with Shift or Alt+drag to duplicate and Shift+drag in Edit Mode to extrude mesh geometry
- Scatter Tool offers brush-based scattering with density, radius and scale controls that support pressure sensitivity and random ranges
- Scatter includes slope and height filters, an image-based density mask, and Limit to Surface to skip samples outside the target
- Dynamic Place applies gravity simulation and force field effects by dragging or scaling selected objects
- Limit to Ground keeps objects from going below Z = 0 while moving
- Tool Help overlay in English or Chinese with a toolbar toggle
Best for
Blender artists who need faster object placement, scatter distribution and physics‑based dropping directly in the viewport.
Frequently asked questions
