Vertex Tool is a free After Effects script that rounds corners of mask and shape layers. It adds new vertices at selected corners using one of twelve rounding algorithms and supports precise pixel or percent values.
Developed by Rendertom.

About Vertex Tool
Vertex Tool works on mask and shape layers in After Effects, replacing an original corner vertex with two or more new vertices based on a specified line length. The script includes twelve corner‑rounding algorithms and allows rounding of a single vertex or all vertices across multiple selected shapes. Rounding values can be set in pixels or as a percentage, and the result can be animated from the original shape. A Find intersection point option removes rounding, while the Vertex Coordinates window shows live coordinates and lets users edit in/out tangents. Shape data can be stored and restored. Compatibility spans After Effects CS4 through the 2026 release, with the current version 1.1.3 released in February 2026.
Features
- 12 corner rounding algorithms to choose from
- Target one specific vertex, or all vertices of multiple selected shapes at once
- Set the rounding value by pixels or percent
- Option to animate from the initial state to the modified shape
- Remove corner rounding with the Find intersection point option
- Live vertex coordinates in focus, including in/out tangents, with custom tangent editing
- Store and restore shape data
Best for
After Effects artists who need to round mask or shape layer corners quickly and with control over multiple shapes.
Frequently asked questions
Which After Effects versions does Vertex Tool support?
Vertex Tool supports After Effects versions from CS4, CS5, CS5.5, CS6, through CC, CC 2014, CC 2015, CC 2015.3, CC 2017, CC 2018, CC 2019, and the yearly releases 2020 through 2026.
Can Vertex Tool round corners on multiple shapes at once?
Yes. Vertex Tool can target all vertices of multiple selected shapes at once, applying the chosen rounding value in pixels or percent to each selected shape.
How does Vertex Tool round a corner?
The script replaces the original corner vertex with two (or more) new vertices placed according to a specified line length, using one of twelve rounding algorithms. The process can be animated and later removed with the Find intersection point option.
Is Vertex Tool free?
The catalog lists Vertex Tool as free. Licensing details may be updated on the developer’s page, so users should verify the current terms before downloading.
