About CSV Importer

CSV Importer is a Blender add‑on that reads CSV files and stores the contents in a mesh composed solely of vertices positioned at the origin. Each vertex carries the CSV columns as attributes, which are displayed in Blender’s Spreadsheet Editor. The data can be referenced in Geometry Nodes using the Named Attribute feature to drive vertex positions or other operations. Import can be performed by dragging a CSV file onto the viewport or any window, or via the menu File → Import → CSV. The add‑on supports string columns and 3‑D vector fields and includes a sample dataset. An API for programmatic CSV import is provided but is marked as not yet stable. Compatibility is listed for Blender 4.2.5 LTS and newer, and builds are available for macOS Apple Silicon, Windows, and Linux.

Features

  • Import via drag-and-drop into the viewport or through File → Import → CSV
  • Drag-and-drop supported in windows other than the viewport
  • Imported data appears in Blender’s Spreadsheet Editor
  • Named Attribute access in Geometry Nodes to set vertex positions from the data
  • Data stored as a vertex-only mesh with each vertex carrying CSV attributes at the origin
  • Support for string columns and 3D vectors
  • API for importing CSV data, noted by the developer as not yet stable

Best for

Blender users who need to bring external CSV data into a scene and use it to control geometry through the Spreadsheet Editor and Geometry Nodes.
