About Swingy Bone Physics

Swingy Bone Physics is a bone‑chain physics solver for Blender designed for artists. It lets you add physically based motion to hair, accessories, cloth, wires and other rigged items via a one‑click process. The plugin supports Blender versions 2.8 up to 5.1, including Blender 5.0. Once a chain is created, bone‑tied collision volumes can be added, and multiple colliders are placed with a few clicks. Adjustable parameters, amplitude constraint profiles, wind simulation and a curve editor allow detailed control, while visual helpers with customizable colors aid viewport work. Bone linking maintains distance between chains, and the simulation can be baked to standard keyframes in a single click. Version 2.0 adds driver bones and official Blender 5.0 support. The software is distributed under the GPL license.

Features

  • One-click process to create physically simulated bone chains
  • Bone-tied collision volumes to collide with the chains, with the option to add several colliders at once
  • Adjustable physics parameters that can be applied to multiple selected bones at once
  • Amplitude constraint profiles to control each bone’s maximum rotation
  • Wind simulation for external motion, plus a curve editor to fine-tune physics parameters and wind behaviour
  • Parameter keyframing for custom behaviour and one-click baking of the simulation to standard keyframes
  • Visual helpers with fully customizable colors in the 3D viewport, and bone linking to maintain distance between chains

Best for

Adding physically based motion to rigged character parts and assets such as hair, accessories, cloth and wires within Blender.

Frequently asked questions

Does Swingy Bone Physics work with Blender 5.0?

Yes. Swingy Bone Physics supports Blender versions 2.8 through 5.1, and support for Blender 5.0 is explicitly included.

How do I create a bone chain with Swingy Bone Physics?

The plugin provides a one‑click operation that creates a physically simulated bone chain; after creation you can add bone‑tied collision volumes and adjust parameters for the chain.

Can I bake the simulation to keyframes in Swingy Bone Physics?

The simulation can be baked to standard keyframes with a single click, and parameter keyframing is also available for more detailed control.

What does version 2.0 of Swingy Bone Physics add?

Version 2.0 adds driver bones as a new feature and confirms support for Blender 5.0.

Is Swingy Bone Physics free?

The catalog lists Swingy Bone Physics as free, and it is distributed under the GPL license.
